5 min

Battlefield 6 Tidal Strike is the third and final phase of Season 4, arriving on September 15, 2026. It closes out the Naval Warfare season with a collection event, a new melee weapon, the first live test of Proximity Chat in Battlefield, and the Phantom Program: a discoverable puzzle that only the most dedicated players will uncover. Here is everything confirmed for Tidal Strike.

Season 4 Phase Timeline

Battlefield 6 Season 4 is split into three phases: Pacific Front (July 21), Top Gun (August 18), and Tidal Strike (September 15).

Deep Six: Collection Event

Deep Six Collection Event: Earn the Royal Navy Dive Knife melee weapon and additional rewards through the limited-time Collection Event tied to Tidal Strike.

The Deep Six Collection Event is a time-limited challenge track where completing specific objectives earns event-exclusive cosmetics and the season’s new melee weapon. Collection Events in Battlefield 6 follow a structured unlock path: complete challenges, earn event currency, and trade that currency for rewards from the event store.

Items in Collection Events are not available after the event closes. Tidal Strike’s Deep Six content window runs from September 15 until Season 4 ends.

New Melee: Royal Navy Dive Knife

A new melee weapon, the Royal Navy Dive Knife, arrives in both Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC as part of Tidal Strike.

The Royal Navy Dive Knife is a diver-themed blade consistent with Tidal Strike’s underwater and naval motif. It is earned through the Deep Six Collection Event rather than the Battle Pass, making it exclusively available to players who actively engage with the event challenges during the Tidal Strike window.

The knife is available in both the core Battlefield 6 multiplayer and Battlefield REDSEC, giving players access across both modes.

Proximity Chat: BF Labs Debut

Battlefield 6 proximity chat is officially confirmed for Season 4, with the first iteration landing in the Tidal Strike phase on September 15, 2026. It debuts as a Battlefield Labs in Live experience in REDSEC before rolling into core multiplayer. Proximity Chat attenuates voice volume by distance, so teammates near you come through loud, while anyone across the map fades out.

The first iteration of Proximity Chat is coming with Season 4 Phase 3: Tidal Strike on September 15 through Battlefield Labs in Live. It will initially be available in Battle Royale, creating new opportunities for coordination and unexpected interactions between nearby players and squads. Launching the feature through Battlefield Labs in Live will help evaluate audio range and clarity, player controls, moderation tools, and the feature’s broader effect on the flow of a round.

What Proximity Chat means in practice:

  • Players physically near your character on the map can hear you (and you can hear them) without needing to be in the same squad
  • Volume attenuates with distance: a player 10 meters away is loud; a player 200 meters away is quiet or silent
  • Enemy players who approach you can hear your callouts if Proximity Chat is active
  • The system launches in REDSEC Battle Royale first; rollout to core Battlefield 6 multiplayer follows after the Labs test concludes

This creates entirely new gameplay scenarios: negotiating truces with enemies, overhearing opponent communications, and the classic “say something before I shoot you” interactions that have defined Proximity Chat in other games.

Available player controls from launch:

  • Toggle Proximity Chat on/off in voice settings
  • Distance threshold settings (how far away you can hear others)

EA explicitly frames this as a draft, not a finished feature. Feedback from the Tidal Strike test period determines what changes before Proximity Chat enters core multiplayer.

The Phantom Program

The Phantom Program challenge returns, where only the worthy can gather intel to reconstruct a powerful access code and take advantage of Fort Lyndon’s security system. The Phantom Program is a discoverable secret.

The Phantom Program involves gathering intel across REDSEC maps, reconstructing an access code, and getting into Fort Lyndon’s systems. It is a Fort Lyndon puzzle chain.

The Phantom Program is Battlefield’s ARG-adjacent hidden challenge system. Players must:

  1. Find intel pieces scattered across REDSEC maps during normal play
  2. Piece together the fragments to reconstruct a full access code
  3. Use the completed code to breach Fort Lyndon’s security system
  4. Receive exclusive rewards tied to solving the full puzzle

The “discoverable secret” framing means the Phantom Program is intentionally not announced through patch notes: players are expected to stumble into its elements during normal gameplay and then collaborate to solve it through community coordination. Previous Phantom Program events became significant community moments as thousands of players compared intel fragments in Discord servers and forums.

Portal Updates

Tidal Strike includes several Portal updates alongside the Collection Event and Proximity Chat launch.

Portal is Battlefield 6’s cross-era multiplayer mode that allows mixing of classic Battlefield content. The Tidal Strike Portal updates have not been detailed beyond confirmation. Previous Portal updates have included classic map additions, weapon balance adjustments for historical weapons, and expanded era-mixing options for Custom Lobbies.

Proximity Chat’s immersive value depends on hearing nearby players clearly. Packet loss that disrupts the voice data stream during Proximity Chat exchanges degrades the feature’s core purpose. For core gameplay, the Tidal Strike content — naval combat on Tsuru Reef carriers and the Phantom Program intel hunts — requires stable connections that handle both position data and voice data simultaneously.
