Aion 2 launches with over 200 dungeons across multiple formats, difficulty levels, and reward structures. Whether you are running solo content during leveling, grinding 4-player party dungeons at the endgame, or organizing an 8-player raid with your Legion, the dungeon system is the primary PvE progression loop from launch to endgame.

Dungeon Formats

Over 200 dungeons span multiple formats: solo challenges, 4-player party content, and 8-player group dungeons. Difficulty tiers include an Easy Mode with boss tutorials and a player-replacement system so a single dropout does not end a run.

FormatPlayersRole RequirementsBest For
Solo Dungeons1NoneLeveling, quick progression, skill testing
4-Player Party4Tank + Healer + 2 DPSStandard endgame loop
8-Player Raids82 Tanks + 2 Healers + 4 DPSEndgame progression, best loot
Nightmare Dungeons4 to 8Optimized compositionHardest available content

Difficulty Tiers

Each dungeon format offers multiple difficulty settings:

Easy Mode: Boss tutorials appear before first encounters, explaining mechanics before you attempt them. The player-replacement system allows a single player who drops or disconnects to be replaced without ending the run.

Normal Mode: Standard dungeon experience with full mechanics but without the tutorial overlays. Appropriate gear is required.

Hard Mode: Mechanics are tighter, boss HP and damage increase, and loot quality improves. Coordinated parties with communication are required.

Nightmare Mode: The hardest variant. Failure conditions are strict, and the loot rewards are the highest available in instanced PvE content.

Dungeon Matchmaking

Party matching for dungeons uses a region-wide pool rather than a server-specific one. During Early Access, matching draws from all Early Access Servers in your geographic region. After the global launch, it expands to include both Early Access and Launch Servers.

This means finding groups is consistently available even on lower-population servers, as your matchmaking pool covers your entire region.

Post-Launch Dungeon Additions (KR/TW Reference)

Season 2 (January 21, 2026): Added large-scale PvE dungeons:

  • Dying Dramata's Nest: A high-difficulty encounter requiring coordinated raid mechanics
  • Cradle of Nihility: Extended boss gauntlet with unique loot rewards

Expedition Dungeons (Post-Season 2): The Expedition line gives smaller-group players new dungeon goals to work toward, extending the ladder of progression goals so different kinds of players have another target waiting.

Dungeon Rewards

Dungeon loot in Aion 2 includes:

  • Gear drops: Weapons, armor, and accessories with stat rolls
  • Enhancement materials: Enhance Stones for gear improvement
  • Abyss Points (from Abyss-adjacent dungeons): Used to purchase Abyss Gear
  • Crafting components: Materials for all five professions
  • Class-specific items: Skill-enhancing items tied to specific class trees

Preparing for Endgame Raids

Eight-player raids require more preparation than solo or 4-player content:

  1. Gear threshold: Most 8-player raids have a minimum average gear score
  2. Role coverage: Two tanks (one main, one off-tank), two healers (Cleric primary, Chanter secondary), four DPS in optimized composition
  3. Consumables: Full stock of potions, food buffs, and flight restoration items if the raid includes aerial phases
  4. Coordination: Voice communication for mechanics, designated call-outs for boss phases

Pro Tips: Aion 2 Dungeons

  • Easy Mode is not optional for new players: The boss tutorial system in Easy Mode teaches mechanics that Hard Mode players will expect you to already know. Use Easy Mode until each boss's mechanics are internalized.
  • Bring flight restoration items to Abyss-adjacent dungeons: Some dungeon encounters include aerial phases where running out of flight duration is a wipe condition.
  • Dungeon matchmaking is region-wide: If your home server has a small population at a particular time of day, the regional matching pool will still find you a group faster than server-only matchmaking would.
