Overwatch Season 4 — Heroes of Busan — is live today, August 11, 2026, and it launches with the biggest overhaul to the Battle Pass system since the game went free-to-play. The fixed 80-tier linear grind is gone. In its place: selectable reward tracks, a Legendary skin swap option, Unvaulted Passes for past season content, and a full new skin lineup themed around the South Korean MEKA squad and D.Mon's arrival.

This guide covers every confirmed Battle Pass reward, how the new system works, what the Mythics are, and what the LE SSERAFIM collaboration means for Season 4.

The New Battle Pass System: Selectable Reward Tracks

Overwatch will overhaul its Season 4 Battle Pass on August 11, replacing its fixed 80-tier progression with selectable reward tracks and giving Premium purchasers one chance to replace an eligible Legendary skin.

Players will first complete an introductory track, which awards the Cyber Mechanic D.Va Legendary skin in Season 4. They will then select one of five additional tracks to pursue, with each containing roughly eight to ten tiers and ending in either a Legendary or Epic skin. Battle Pass experience will continue to be earned through normal play, but it will apply to the track the player has selected. After finishing a track, players can choose another, and Blizzard says they can change their active track at any time.

This change directly addresses one of the most consistent community complaints about Overwatch's Battle Pass: players were forced to unlock cosmetics they did not want before reaching the ones they did. The new system lets you prioritize the skin you actually want to unlock and reach it faster.

How it works step by step:

  1. Complete the Introductory Track (earns Cyber Mechanic D.Va Legendary skin)
  2. Choose one of five Reward Tracks to pursue
  3. Each track has 8 to 10 tiers ending in a Legendary or Epic skin
  4. XP from matches applies to your currently active track
  5. Switch tracks at any time without losing progress on others
  6. After completing a track, select the next one you want

The Legendary Skin Swap Option

Premium purchasers get one chance to replace an eligible Legendary skin from a curated pool each pass. The replacement pool is refreshed each season and includes cosmetics for Tank, Damage, and Support heroes. Season 4 begins with 12 eligible Legendary skins in the swap pool, including Raijin Ashe, Mob Boss Junker Queen, Cardboard Reinhardt, Sakura Lifeweaver, and Crustacean Wrecking Ball.

This means if you complete a Reward Track and earn a Legendary skin you already own or do not want, you can swap it for a different Legendary from the curated 12-skin pool. One swap per season, resets in Season 5.

Ultimate Battle Pass: D.Mon Exclusive Skins

The Ultimate Battle Pass includes Divine Demon D.Mon and Metalcore Junker Queen Legendary skins, 20 tier skips, and 2,000 Overwatch Coins.

The Divine Demon D.Mon skin is the season's most exclusive cosmetic: only obtainable through the Ultimate Battle Pass, not purchasable separately in the shop. For players who want to debut D.Mon with a premium look from day one, the Ultimate tier is the only path.

Mythic Skins: Genji Duality of Koi and Sojourn Weapon

Genji — Duality of Koi (Mythic Hero Skin)

Genji is receiving his second Mythic skin in the game. The new Duality of Koi Mythic skin is centered on the concept of balance and yin-yang aesthetics, making it a visual highlight of Season 4.

Mythic skins in Overwatch are the highest cosmetic tier, earned by spending Prisms (the Mythic-specific currency earned through Battle Pass progression). The Duality of Koi skin has multiple unlockable style variations as you invest more Prisms.

In Season 4, Heroes of Busan, there is a new Mythic hero skin and a new Mythic weapon skin for players to spend their hard-earned Prisms on.

Sojourn — Mythic Weapon Skin

The Mythic weapon skin for Sojourn continues the per-weapon cosmetic tier introduced in 2026, allowing Mythic-level visual upgrades to specific weapons rather than requiring a full hero skin purchase.

Note on Unvaulted Passes and Mythics: Returning past battle passes will not include their original Mythic Prisms, Prestige titles, or Mythic skins. Only the standard cosmetic rewards from past passes are available through Unvaulted Passes.

Unvaulted Passes: A Second Chance at Past Rewards

Season 4 introduces the Unvaulted Passes feature, which lets you get a second chance to catch up on missed rewards from past Battle Passes. Overwatch's shift from a retail game to a free-to-play one added an element of FOMO as cosmetics from expired seasons were gone permanently. Unvaulted Passes begin returning in September as a midseason addition.

Blizzard plans to share full details in a midseason blog post about which specific past seasons are returning and when. What is confirmed:

  • Past Battle Passes will return starting midseason (September 2026)
  • They will not include their original Mythic Prisms, Prestige titles, or Mythic skins
  • Standard Legendary, Epic, and other cosmetic rewards from those seasons are included
  • This is the first time Overwatch has allowed players to re-access expired seasonal content

LE SSERAFIM Collaboration

The end of the Overwatch Season 4 trailer teased a new Overwatch x LE SSERAFIM collaboration, the third skin collab with the popular K-pop group. LE SSERAFIM is slated to perform at BlizzCon 2026 on September 13, so this crossover may be an extended celebration of that event.

The LE SSERAFIM collaboration brings K-pop themed skins for multiple heroes. The specific heroes and skin designs have not all been confirmed at launch, but previous LE SSERAFIM collaborations in Overwatch have covered a wide roster of heroes with distinctive idol-aesthetic designs.

Given the BlizzCon 2026 performance date of September 13, the LE SSERAFIM content is likely to arrive at or shortly after that date during the Season 4 midseason window.

Season 4 Events and Additional Content

Team Drives Event:

A team-based Drive event is coming to Season 4, where players compete as a group to earn rewards. The Season 4 Drive is unique because it encourages group play rather than solo point accumulation. The Team Drives event will last from September 4 to September 6, 2026, spanning a weekend.

Drive events reward consistent play with XP that unlocks additional tiers of free cosmetics, including Drive nametags with animations.

Emerald Rank:

Season 4 introduces a new Emerald rank, expanding the competitive rank ladder.

The Emerald rank sits between the existing Diamond and Grandmaster tiers, adding a new progression milestone for players in the upper-middle skill range.

Hard Rank Reset:

Overwatch Season 4 includes a hard rank reset. Players will have to queue ranked games again to find their new placement.

All players start Season 4 without their Season 3 rank visible. Placement matches determine your new starting point. This applies to all ranked modes.

Overwatch World Cup Rewards:

Season 4 includes Overwatch World Cup-themed rewards as part of the season's extended content calendar.

Lore Events:

New narrative events tied to the Heroes of Busan chapter continue the Reign of Talon story. D.Mon's arrival connects directly to the South Korean setting and the MEKA squad lore that has been building since D.Va's introduction to the game years ago.

Season 4 Battle Pass: Free vs Premium vs Ultimate

TierPriceKey Rewards
Free$0Introductory track, Cyber Mechanic D.Va Legendary, Drive event cosmetics
Premium1,000 Coins ($10)All 5 Cyber Legendary skins, full reward tracks, Legendary skin swap
Ultimate2,800 Coins ($28)All Premium rewards + Divine Demon D.Mon + Metalcore Junker Queen + 20 tier skips + 2,000 Coins

Is the Season 4 Battle Pass Worth It?

The new selectable track system changes the value equation meaningfully. In previous seasons, whether the Battle Pass was worth buying depended on whether you liked the specific cosmetics that happened to appear at the tiers you reached through normal play. The new system lets you choose which Legendary to pursue, making the Premium Pass worth buying if even one of the five Cyber Legendary skins interests you.

The Legendary skin swap pool (12 eligible skins including Raijin Ashe, Mob Boss Junker Queen, and Cardboard Reinhardt) adds a second layer of value for players who already own several cosmetics: if you complete a track and earn a duplicate, the swap converts it into something from the pool instead.

The Ultimate Pass value depends entirely on whether you want D.Mon day one. Divine Demon D.Mon is not available anywhere else and cannot be purchased separately in the shop. For D.Mon players who want the premium skin at launch, the Ultimate tier is the only option.

Pro Tips: Season 4 Battle Pass

  • Complete the Introductory Track first before selecting your reward tracks: the Cyber Mechanic D.Va skin requires completing the intro track regardless of which pass tier you have. This is not optional.
  • Use the Legendary skin swap at the end of a track, not at the beginning of the season: you only get one swap per season. Use it after you see which Legendary the track you completed gave you, not preemptively. You may end up happy with what you earn and want to save the swap for a track you have not done yet.
  • Prioritize the track with the skin you want most before engaging in the swap pool: the swap pool gives you a second chance if you earn a skin you do not want. The most efficient approach is to intentionally pursue the track for your most-wanted skin first rather than relying on the swap pool to fix a poor track choice.
