Aion 2 Professions Guide: ⚒️ Crafting, Gathering, and Leveling Every Profession ⚡

5 min

Crafting and gathering in Aion 2 are not optional activities for min-maxers. The five crafting professions produce weapons, armor, consumables, accessories, and enhancement materials that are essential throughout the game’s progression arc. Players who engage with professions efficiently have better gear options, lower costs, and a source of Kinah income that PvE-only players miss entirely.

How Gathering Works: Essence Extraction

Crafting ties in with gathering, also known as Essence Extraction. After gathering resources through Essence Extraction, you can use them to craft a wide variety of items.

The gathering system uses a mini-game when you interact with resource nodes:

When you interact with a resource node, a three-slot interface appears. Success rolls (green) allow you to harvest the resource, while failure rolls (red) block a slot. You can harvest up to three times per node. The quality of the yield can be Common (Grey), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), or Unique (Yellow).

Gathering skill levels:

  • Novice: Up to Level 50, available immediately
  • Professional: Unlocked by completing a specific side quest in Verdderon Village

Each resource type (Wood, Herb, Ore, etc.) has its own skill line. Rank 1 reveals resource nodes on your mini-map. Rank 2 gives a chance to double your harvest yield. Rank 3 gives a chance to obtain higher quality materials.

You can reset gathering skill points for 50,000 Kinah to specialize in different resources.

The Five Crafting Professions

1. Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing transforms Oracle Ore into Ingots. It crafts Swords, Great Swords, Daggers, Maces, and Shields.

Who needs it: Gladiator (Great Swords), Templar (Sword and Shield), Assassin (Daggers), Cleric (Mace and Shield) Key materials: Oracle Ore (gathered), Ingots (processed from ore), Catalyst (purchased from vendor for Kinah) Economy value: Weapons are always in demand. Rare and Unique weapon crafts command premium Kinah prices.

2. Armor Smithing

Armor Smithing requires Leather from monsters and Metal. It crafts all armor types: Helmets, Breastplates, Leggings, Gloves, Boots, and Capes.

Who needs it: All classes use armor. Armor Smithing has the broadest customer base of all professions. Key materials: Leather (monster drops), Metal (from Blacksmithing or gathered), Catalysts Economy value: Consistent demand across all classes and levels.

3. Handicrafting

Handicrafting transforms Wood. It crafts Bows for Rangers, Staves for Chanters, and Jewelry including Necklaces.

Who needs it: Rangers (Bows), Chanters (Staves), all classes (Necklaces and Rings) Key materials: Wood (gathered, various quality tiers), Gems and stones for jewelry Economy value: Jewelry crafts (Necklaces, Rings) sell consistently because accessories are often the last slots to fill from dungeon drops.

4. Alchemy

Alchemy is one of the most versatile crafting professions in Aion 2. It covers magical weapons, consumables, enhancement items, and utility tools. Sorcerers rely on spellbooks crafted through Alchemy, while Elementalists use orbs as their primary weapons.

Beyond equipment, Alchemy allows players to create health, mana, healing, and movement-related consumables. The profession also includes scroll crafting with temporary combat benefits such as increased speed, critical hit chance, and defensive bonuses. Mana Stones and Soul Stones for character enhancement can also be crafted through Alchemy.

Who needs it: Sorcerers and Elementalists for weapons, all players for consumables Economy value: Due to the constant demand for consumables, Alchemy is expected to remain one of the most active professions in the game. Flight restoration consumables from Alchemy are permanently valuable in Abyss PvP environments.

5. Cooking

Cooking focuses on food and beverages that provide temporary buffs and utility effects.

Who needs it: All players benefit from food buffs before dungeon runs and PvP sessions Economy value: Consistent demand for combat-prep consumables. Lower barrier to entry than Alchemy.

You do not need to live inside the crafting system to benefit from it. The key mindset is: professions in Aion 2 support three core things: your personal comfort, your weekly efficiency, and your long-term economy. Comfort is simple: you always have consumables so you can play longer. Efficiency means your daily sessions produce more progress per minute. Economy is the big one: when you can convert drops into something people actually buy, your upgrades stop feeling like a constant Kinah crisis.

Profession Leveling Route

  1. Start gathering immediately on your first character: Essence Extraction nodes are everywhere in the early zones. Begin leveling your gathering skill during normal questing.
  2. Choose one or two professions: Leveling all five is possible but slow. Pick the professions most relevant to your class and playstyle.
  3. Level at crafting tables in major cities: You can visit any of the crafting tables in the main cities after gathering necessary materials and buying the catalyst from the nearby vendor in exchange for Kinah.
  4. Use the Crafting Calculator at aion2.online: The calculator shows the full material shopping list for any recipe, preventing wasted trips to gathering nodes.

Crafting Economy Tips

  • Buy missing materials from the broker: Gathering everything yourself is the slowest approach. Buy cheap broker materials to complete crafts during demand spikes.
  • Sell crafted items at peak hours: Player traffic is highest in evenings. List your crafted items before that window for faster sales.
  • Track which dungeon drops compete with your crafts: If a dungeon frequently drops the same item you craft, the market price for that item will be depressed. Pivot to items that dungeons drop less reliably.
