Pearl Abyss held the Heidel Ball 2026 on July 25 and 26 in Southern California, returning to Los Angeles for the first time in four years to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Black Desert’s North American and European servers. What followed was one of the most announcement-dense community events in the game’s history: a new class, a major level system overhaul, a new region, a landmark PvP tournament, quality-of-life features players had been requesting for years, and enough roadmap content to fill the second half of 2026 and into 2027.
The event was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Black Desert’s service in North America and Europe. Approximately 200 players from the region attended in person, and the event was broadcast in nine languages via official Black Desert channels on YouTube and Chzzk.
This weekend was the celebration of 10 years of service for Black Desert Online. More than that, it was also the best demonstration of what it looks like to not only serve your game community but also deliver on a promise of ongoing support and development that frankly few companies can match.
The Event: Format and Atmosphere
A fan gathering with around 400 lucky Adventurers, the event was filled with carnival games and a stage where all the announcements took place.
Before kicking things off, players were treated to something unique to BDO: minigames at their events. Four activities pitted players against physical challenges. The first of these carnival-style challenges was a familiar activity called “No Pen, No Gain,” where players hit a button and take a chance to enhance their item from base to PEN.
The presentations were led by Jang Je-seok, Head of Black Desert Live Service, and Yang Wan-su, Black Desert Development PD.
The event ran in two parts: July 25 for the in-person community gathering with minigames, live PvP competitions, and community activities, and July 26 for the formal announcements broadcast globally. Every major announcement is covered below in the order it was presented.
Announcement 1: Agent — The 32nd Class
The event featured the first reveal of Black Desert’s 32nd class, Agent. A male, gun-wielding class, Agent introduces Deadeye’s sibling, Eddie, as a playable character.
The biggest announcement was the reveal of the new Agent class, which looks like a cross between Percy from Critical Role and Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil: a precision marksman who can take out multiple enemies in a hurry, and the estranged brother of the Deadeye class.
Agent (Edward “Eddie” Henry Canary) is built around:
- Primary weapon: Heavy-caliber Revolver designed to fire slower and hit harder than Deadeye’s
- Secondary weapon: The Hexround, a unique mechanic that tracks enemies, chains skills between both weapons, and distorts space-time
- Additional tool: Grenades for area damage
- Signature skills: Blink (space-time teleport), Hexround Engage, Reaper’s Mercy, Bulletstorm, Mozambique Drill
Agent is the brother of existing class Deadeye, sharing her revolver-and-bullets DNA but built around a distinctly different combat identity: slower, harder-hitting shots, grenade use, and a special weapon called the Hexround that substitutes area damage for the magic-based toolkit most classes lean on. Pearl Abyss described the design intent as controlled area dominance rather than Deadeye’s run-and-gun aggression.
Launch dates:
| Platform | Date |
|---|---|
| Korea PC | July 29, 2026 |
| Global PC | July 30, 2026 |
| Console | August 6, 2026 |
| Awakening | Winter 2026 |
Agent will release in two phases: Succession and Awakening. Succession officially launched on July 29 in Korea, one week after the Heidel Ball, with the console version following on August 6. The Awakening for Agent is scheduled for this winter season. Along with the reveal of the new class, the future direction for class updates was also discussed.
One Class Per Year: New Cadence
Pearl Abyss confirmed a structural shift in class cadence: one new class per year going forward, with Succession variants arriving in summer and Awakening in winter, explicitly to allow more balance tuning time between releases.
Agent is the only new class of 2026. The next class will not arrive until summer 2027.
Announcement 2: Edania Part 2
Black Desert heads deeper into Edania Part 2, bringing new areas, story progression, and fresh gear paths.
Edania Part 2 brings Inner Edania, seven bosses, new monster zones, new accessories, Life Artifacts, dyes, and the Godslayer’s Armor outfit.
The Sulfur Golem Monster Zone, Phase 1 of Edania Part 2, opened on July 30 globally alongside the Agent class launch. Two new accessories, Ekreta and Aperon, were confirmed. Skills previously used solely for damage increases will now be used to create openings in bosses. Each boss will also have unique attack patterns and clear strategies.
Announcement 3: Level Cap Overhaul — Raising to 75
One of the most significant structural changes in the game’s history was announced at the Heidel Ball:
The level cap raises to 75 in two phases: level 70 on August 12, and level 75 on October 7, ending Black Desert’s longstanding soft cap system.
This is a fundamental change to how character progression is structured. Black Desert had maintained an effectively capped progression system for years where the level number became largely symbolic past a certain point. Raising the hard cap to 75 in two distinct phases gives players a concrete progression milestone to work toward in the second half of 2026.
Announcement 4: HYPERBOOST — Progression Support Initiative
HYPERBOOST, a new progression support initiative, is coming to help new and returning Adventurers catch up faster and enjoy content together.
HYPERBOOST includes:
- Sovereign weapon material support: Blackstar weapons, Embers of the Primordial, Gem of Twilight
- Accelerated catch-up mechanisms for players returning to the game or starting fresh
- Content designed to close the gap between veterans and newer players faster than existing progression systems allow
The Hyper Boost update is scheduled for July 29 alongside the Agent class in Korea.
Announcement 5: Character Swap (Instant Character Switching)
The instant character transition system, teased at last year’s Heidel Ball, was officially introduced. This feature allows players to switch between characters within their Family without loading screens.
How it works: Characters owned by the player appear in the field. Sub-characters stationed at locations like World Boss spawns can be encountered directly. Interacting with these characters allows for an instant switch without loading. Players can also switch quickly via the character selection screen. While a transition animation plays, it is skipped once the actual loading is complete.
The team is planning on the instant swap “very soon”, but announced that the Family Dispatch would kick off sometime in November of 2026.
Announcement 6: Family Life Gear Unification
One of the loudest bits of applause tonight was the fact that all Family life gear will now be unified. This holds all life skill gear with a refined UI, and brings quality-of-life features such as life skill gear sets players have been asking for. This all ties in neatly with the Family Dispatch system, with dispatched toons utilizing their equipped life skill equipment. Functional costumes are also getting an update.
The Life Gear Unification directly impacts how players manage multiple characters dedicated to different life skills, a playstyle that a significant portion of the Black Desert community engages in.
Announcement 7: Unified PvP Rankings
Major Black Desert updates include unified PvP rankings.
A consolidated ranking system across PvP modes was confirmed. Details on exactly which modes are included and how the unified ranking feeds into rewards will come in dedicated GM Notes before the feature launches.
Announcement 8: Master Class World Finals
The winners of the 2025 and 2026 Master Class tournaments will compete. One champion for each of 32 classes will be selected from 10 regions, resulting in a total of 320 participants in Master Class: World Finals. The World Finals are planned to be held once every four years. Support provided by Pearl Abyss: Flights, accommodations, meals, and all tournament-related arrangements.
The Master Class World Finals represents Pearl Abyss’s highest-level competitive event. With 320 participants selected from 10 regions and Pearl Abyss covering all travel and accommodation, it is a fully supported competitive event for the game’s best individual class players.
Announcement 9: Dark Bonghwang — New Mount Teaser
Pearl Abyss teased Dark Bonghwang.
Ferrica is a new option alongside horses. Reminiscent of a chocobo, the massive bird features joyous music; it flies, it sprints, and it drifts. While the mount is still in active development, there will be all-new animations for the mount and its rider. There is currently no release window.
Both the Dark Bonghwang and the Ferrica bird mount were shown without release dates, positioning them as future content rather than imminent additions.
Announcement 10: Console Server Relocation
Pearl Abyss teased console server relocation.
No specific timeline was given for the console server infrastructure move, but its inclusion in the Heidel Ball slate signals that Pearl Abyss is addressing a long-standing concern from the console Black Desert community about server performance and geographic distribution.
Announcement 11: Content Schedule Feature
The Content Schedule feature is expected on September 9.
A dedicated in-game content calendar system is coming September 9, 2026. This feature gives players a structured view of upcoming content, events, and schedule-sensitive activities within the game client rather than requiring external resource checking.
Announcement 12: Black Desert x Woosa Nendoroid
Pre-orders for Black Desert Woosa Nendoroid are now open.
A collectible Nendoroid figure for the Woosa class was announced with immediate pre-order availability, continuing Pearl Abyss’s pattern of physical merchandise tied to popular class reveals.
Heidel Ball Coupon Rewards
Pearl Abyss distributed coupon rewards to players during and after the Heidel Ball:
Over 8 weeks of special login rewards, players will receive 8 hammers, including the new Hammer of Causality, and 25k Cron Stones. The Hammer of Causality can be used on the new Ekreta and Aperon accessories. Coupon rewards have been prepared for players who joined the ball.
By entering the coupon code **BEYONDTHEJOURNEY**, players can receive 50k Cron Stones, 5 hammers, a weapon exchange coupon, and Advice of Valks (+450). A separate coupon containing 10 costume chests will also be provided.
A new summer limited outfit, the Lifeguard Outfit, was also revealed at the event.
The NA vs EU Competition
The NA team came out ahead once more. While the EU team made them work for it, and the whole affair did manage to run the clock all the way until the 5th match, NA prevailed once more, taking not only a grip of prizes like brand new AMD GPUs, Alienware, and more, but also the coveted 2026 crystal trophy.
The inter-regional competition between NA and EU communities has become a fixture of the Heidel Ball format, adding a live competitive element that drives community engagement during the event.

Pro Tips: Getting the Most Out of Heidel Ball 2026 Content
- Redeem BEYONDTHEJOURNEY immediately: The coupon code for 50k Cron Stones, 5 hammers, a weapon exchange coupon, and Advice of Valks (+450) has no announced expiration date but coupon codes typically have time limits. Redeem before it expires.
- Enter Edania Part 2 Sulfur Golem Zone early: New monster zones before the community establishes the meta offer better access to resources and positioning. The first few weeks of a new zone are the least contested window.
- Plan your level 70 push for August 12: The level cap raising to 70 on August 12 gives less than two weeks from this writing. Players who prepare their progression chain in advance of August 12 can reach the new cap faster than those who plan reactively.
- Try Agent in the Global Lab before creating on live servers: The Global Lab remains available with Agent at Level 63. If you want to evaluate the class before committing a live-server character slot, this is the safest path to doing so without any cost.
