Abyss: The Beginning of the 100 Thieves Victory in VCT Americas

100 Thieves victory in VCT Americas

The first map of the series between NRG and 100 Thieves was Abyss, chosen by NRG. In the compositions, we saw two very different game philosophies. On NRG’s side, we saw Jett, Phoenix, Omen, Viper, and Sova—a composition focused on denying space and funneling enemy territory.

Meanwhile, in the hands of 100 Thieves, we had Jett, Phoenix, Harbor, Sova, and Cypher. This way, the team could gather more information, especially regarding possible rotations. Additionally, with Harbor, they guaranteed a safer plant, leaving NRG with serious problems.

Round by round

Right in the first half, starting on the attack side, 100 Thieves showed great dominance and reading of their opponents. All pushes were fast, with very well-constructed executions.

They achieved a very expressive score of 9-3, switching sides with a large advantage. This allowed them to understand the opponent’s attack and adapt as necessary.

However, none of that was needed! During the defensive side, 100 Thieves continued to dominate the game, nullifying any NRG offensive. Thus, they closed the first map 13-3, securing the lead in the series.

As expected, the biggest highlight was Timotino, the young 100 Thieves duelist. With his Jett, he managed to impact every round played. In this way, he helped his team build that entire lead on the scoreboard.

His final KDA was 20/8/1, with 6 of those being first kills while suffering only one first death.

Sunset and 100 Thieves’ Qualification for Champions 2026

NRG VCT Americas

Sunset was the map chosen by 100 Thieves, surprising everyone following the series. Neither team had managed to secure a single victory on this map throughout the second split.

Regarding compositions, we saw some changes in both teams. NRG used a different composition on the map, playing Neon, Omen, Sova, KAY/O, and Chamber. Notably, they previously used Cypher instead of Chamber and had tested Phoenix instead of KAY/O.

In contrast, 100 Thieves made only one change in their choice of initiator. In the last two matches played, they used Neon, Phoenix, Sova, Omen, and Cypher. However, in the game against NRG, where we saw the 100 Thieves victory in VCT Americas, they chose to use Fade. Thus, the lineup was: Neon, Phoenix, Fade, Omen, and Cypher.

Round by round

At the start of the map, we saw a tighter contest, with NRG trying to win a map and take the decision to Sunset. However, even while securing some points on attack, 100 Thieves managed to adapt on defense. Consequently, they closed the first half at 7-5, heading to the attack needing only 5 points.

On the attack, we saw all the reasons for the 100 Thieves victory in VCT Americas. They completely overwhelmed their opponent, nullifying any chance of defense. Thus, the victory came with a score of 13-5, securing their spot in the grand final and at VCT Champions 2026.
