LOL Update 26.3: Check out all the buffs and nerfs of the patch

4 min

The LOL Update 26.3 is now available on official servers, bringing a series of adjustments that promise to shake up the current League of Legends meta. According to Riot Games, the focus of this patch is to refine item balancing, adjust popular runes, and modify vision mechanics. The main goal is to increase tension and competitiveness right from the opening minutes of the game.

For players looking to climb the ranks, understanding these changes is fundamental. After all, small alterations in damage numbers or cooldowns can transform a forgotten champion into a priority pick in ranked matches.

What changes in the meta with LOL Update 26.3

lol 26.3 patch notes

The jungle landscape is one of the most impacted in this patch. Riot decided to strengthen several Attack Damage (AD) focused junglers. Champions like Bel’Veth, Hecarim, and Xin Zhao received direct buffs to their damage and attribute growth per level.

In addition to them, other well-known jungle names were also reinforced. Briar, Nunu, Vi, and Trundle now count on more base health or reductions in their ability costs. These changes aim to provide more sustain and dueling power for these characters, allowing them to dictate the pace of the matches.

On the other hand, marksmen and mages were not left out. Ahri received a cooldown reduction on her W (Fox-Fire), while Ezreal had his attack damage growth increased. However, it’s not all good news for magic users.

Heavy nerfs for Ability Power (AP) champions

While physical fighters are celebrating, burst mages took hard hits in LOL Update 26.3. Champions with high mobility and sudden damage, such as Diana and Ekko, had their passive multipliers reduced. This means they will need more items to guarantee quick takedowns.

Other characters that were dominating the lanes were also tuned down:

  • Ryze and Riven: Received reductions in base stats and damage to main abilities.
  • Braum and Nilah: Received nerfs focused on decreasing their dominance in the bottom lane.
  • Varus: The max health damage on his W was reduced.
  • Volibear: Had his Q damage decreased and the E cooldown increased.

Item changes and the new balance of runes

The game’s economy also underwent significant revisions. The item “Updater”, for example, had its cost reduced from 3,100 to 2,800 gold. This change aims to make it a more accessible option to accelerate the power spike of certain champions.

Meanwhile, the item Dusk & Dawn  was rebalanced to offer more survivability. Now, it grants +300 health, but in exchange, the magic damage scaling was reduced. Additionally, defensive items like the Protoplasmic Cuirass had their resistance gains decreased to prevent tanks from becoming immortal too early.

In the runes department, Riot Games targeted the “economic game.” The Cash Back rune now returns less gold, and Phase Rush grants less movement speed for ranged champions. The goal is to prevent certain lanes from becoming too passive while simply accumulating resources.

LP system adjustments and strategic vision

For high-ranking players, LOL Update 26.3 brings urgent fixes to the LP (PDL) system. Many players in tiers like Master and Challenger complained about negative point gains, something the developer promised to stabilize. Furthermore, the duo system at the top of Challenger will be limited to ensure more balanced matches.

Another vital change is in vision. The cooldown of the Yellow Trinket (Stealth Ward) rose from 170 to 210 seconds. As a result, players will have fewer free wards in the early game, which opens larger windows for jungler ganks.

Finally, Riot announced a free Clash tournament on February 7th as compensation for previous technical issues. Streamer Mode was also improved, ensuring that privacy is symmetrical: if you hide your data, you won’t see your opponents’ data either.

With all these changes, LOL Update 26.3 focuses on transforming League of Legends into a more dynamic and less predictable game. Prepare your strategies, adjust your runes, and good luck on the Fields of Justice!
