The first major international League of Legends tournament of the year crowned its champion last Saturday.
The Mid-Season Invitational came to an end after days of intense matchups and surprising series. And as expected, the grand final delivered a thrilling showdown between Faker’s T1 and Chovy’s Gen.G. In a five-game series packed with action and jaw-dropping moments, Gen.G claimed their second MSI title. Here are the main highlights from the MSI 2025 Final.
MSI 2025 Final: Another title for Gen.G

A series between T1 and Gen.G is always guaranteed to be a banger. The two teams met again in the MSI 2025 grand final, following a clash in the upper bracket final. As with all their encounters, the matchup featured well-prepared drafts, calculated plays, and unexpected turns.
The best-of-five kicked off with T1 taking Game 1 in a controlled performance led by their jungler. However, Gen.G struck back immediately, tying the series thanks to a sharp Ryze performance by Chovy, who went head-to-head with the legendary Faker.
In Game 3, it was T1’s turn to dominate. The team executed a clean stomp, racking up kills and leaving Gen.G on the back foot the entire match. With that win, T1 stood one game away from lifting the MSI trophy again—something they hadn’t done in eight years. But Gen.G wasn’t about to back down.
Records upon records

With a more disciplined approach in Game 4, Gen.G responded with coordinated teamfights and crisp execution to tie the series 2-2 and force a decisive Game 5. In a tightly contested match, Gen.G showed composure and strategic depth in the Fearless Draft, eventually turning the series around for a 3-2 victory.
Alongside the title and the $500,000 prize, Gen.G’s win wasn’t the only milestone of the day. The tournament also featured historic records, including several new stats set by Faker during the event.
Most notably, the grand final set a new peak viewership record, surpassing the 2024 final between BLG and Gen.G. According to Esports Charts, the match reached 3,448,373 concurrent viewers, making it the most-watched match in MSI history.
The rivalry between T1 and Gen.G didn’t stop there. Their upper bracket final clash also became the second most-watched series of the tournament. Meanwhile, the third most-watched was the lower bracket final between T1 and Anyone’s Legend, which decided the third seed for MSI 2025.
