AION 2 down: 21 European servers affected, compensation announced

4 min

With AION 2 down or unstable on several European servers on Thursday, October 8, 2026, NCSoft traced the disruption to a cloud service failure. A total of 21 worlds were affected.

The incident came just three days after the MMORPG’s free global launch on October 5. NCSoft acknowledged the disruption and later confirmed that the cloud service problem had been resolved.

The AION 2 down incident also prompted a compensation announcement for players on the affected worlds. The rewards include extra subscription time, an extension to a pet feature, and an in-game supply chest.

The same week saw a postponed maintenance window and the opening of two new European worlds. Here’s which servers were affected, what has been fixed, and how the compensation works.

Why did AION 2 go down in Europe?

NCSoft attributed the AION 2 server outage to a failure involving a cloud service used by the game’s infrastructure. It did not impact every European world. The company identified 10 Elyos worlds and 11 Asmodian worlds in its compensation notice.

The announcement did not name the cloud provider or specify exactly how long the disruption lasted. In an update on October 8, NCSoft said the underlying problem had been resolved and announced compensation for affected players.

Full list of 21 affected European servers

The following names match NCSoft’s official compensation notice:

Faction Affected servers
Elyos Nezekan, Kaisinel, Ariel, Meslamtaeda, Nania, Luteros, Daminu, Bakarma, Kochi, Tiamat
Asmodians Zikel, Lumiel, Azphel, Beritra, Ulgorn, Odar, Kromede, Baba, Fafnir, Agnita, Atiel

This is the list of worlds covered by the announced compensation. Players on other servers were not included in this specific notice.

AION 2 October 2026 maintenance: schedule and server status

The week began with scheduled maintenance on October 7, from 3:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Brasília time. That maintenance took place before the European cloud service disruption on October 8.

A second maintenance window was originally planned for October 8 but was postponed. Work began on October 9 at 3:30 a.m. Brasília time, with an estimated duration of 90 minutes. NCSoft later confirmed that the maintenance was complete.

The announced changes included server stability measures and a 500-point increase in flight power for each of the four wings earned through quests. Those changes were part of the wider maintenance, not solely a response to the European outage.

Are AION 2’s servers back online? According to NCSoft’s notices, the cloud service issue had already been resolved on October 8. The October 9 maintenance was also completed. Neither announcement guarantees that further disruptions cannot occur.

AION 2 outage compensation: what players receive

Following the AION 2 down incident, NCSoft announced three benefits for eligible players on the affected worlds. Delivery and eligibility requirements vary by reward:

  • One extra day of subscription time: automatically granted to players who had an active subscription on an affected server.
  • One extra day of automatic pet gathering: granted automatically to players who already had the feature active.
  • One Special Daeva Supply Chest: sent through the in-game mail system to players on the affected worlds.

The chest contains 20 Life Crystals, 10 Spirit Resurrection Stones, and 20 Combat Enhancement Scrolls. It also includes five Content Entry Ticket Selection Chests and five Odyle Energy items. NCSoft labels these items as Bound.

Players have seven days to claim the chest from their in-game mailbox, according to the maintenance completion notice. Eligible players should check their mail before the reward expires.

New European servers and where to check for updates

Alongside the outage announcements, NCSoft confirmed two additional European worlds for October 8: Nathara for the Elyos and Tassin for the Asmodians. Their opening was scheduled for 1 p.m. Brasília time.

Although the new worlds were announced on the same day as the disruption, NCSoft did not identify the cloud failure as the reason for opening them. The two developments should not be presented as directly connected.

For the latest AION 2 server status, players can check NCSoft’s official announcements and the game’s Steam community updates. These remain the primary sources for any future maintenance or outage notices.

When a game’s servers are unavailable because of an infrastructure failure, connection optimization tools such as ExitLag cannot bring them back online. Checking the official server status is therefore the best first step before troubleshooting an individual connection.
