Last Epoch Season 5 now has a name, a date, and a new villain to hunt. Eleventh Hour Games revealed the details during Hype Week, and the new season promises to shake up the endgame, the loot, and several classes.
After months of quiet, the news energized the community. In addition, Last Epoch Season 5 arrives with a new game director, Mike Weicker, who is part of the studio’s founding team.
In short, Last Epoch Season 5, titled Rage Of The Frostborn, begins on October 1 at 9 AM PT (16:00 UTC). It brings the Rage of Morditas mechanic, the pinnacle boss Morditas, three new skills, and changes to the item factions.

When the season begins
The Release Date is confirmed for Thursday, October 1. Meanwhile, Season 4 ends one hour earlier, so it is worth wrapping up any pending goals ahead of time.

Rage Of The Frostborn: The Seasonal Mechanic
How Rage of Morditas works
The Seasonal Mechanic revolves around Morditas, a demigod who was imprisoned after rebelling against his father, Heorot. During the campaign or in endgame Echoes, you will find Frozen Blood Crystals scattered across Eterra.
Touching a crystal starts the event. From there, the goal is to kill as many enemies as possible:
- A progress bar marks five kill thresholds
- Each threshold reached grants a Bloodrage Charge and a random buff
- Buffs can stack during the event
- In a second phase, defeated enemies return to life in an arena of blood and ice
Rewards you control
At the end of the event, Bloodrage Charges are spent on a screen with five reward slots. This is the most interesting part of Rage Of The Frostborn, because loot stops being pure chance.
In practice, there are two main rituals. The Bloody Ritual removes an item type from future rewards, while the Frozen Ritual locks in an item type and pulls toward similar affixes.
Furthermore, affected items gain the new Iceforging Potential, which gives a chance to craft without spending Forging Potential.
Morditas: The New Boss Of Last Epoch Season 5
The road to the boss
Completing mechanic events unlocks a three-part Echo chain. The first two stages feature familiar enemies, and the final one ends in a showdown with Morditas.
Along the way, an Anger gauge rises as monsters fall. The higher the Anger, the higher the difficulty and the rewards. If things get too tough, you can appease Morditas to lower the gauge.
The pinnacle: God of Bloodshed
Defeating Morditas unlocks the Demigod’s Ascendance Woven Echo, which leads to the pinnacle version of the boss. Here is how it compares to other challenges:

For competitive players, the First Blood race rewards the first player of each of the five classes to defeat the pinnacle, in both normal and hardcore Solo Challenge. In total, 10 Supporter Packs are up for grabs.
New Skills For The Season
The three debuts
The New Skills complete the arsenal of three masteries. Each one has its own tree packed with options:
- Radiant Lance (Paladin): calls holy light down into your shield and fires a beam forward, gaining damage from block chance
- Dreamslash (Bladedancer): a cheap, spammable dashing melee attack that becomes a projectile when copied by shadows
- Summon Tide Elemental (Shaman): summons a cold-casting minion that can fight alone, alongside other minions, or even become a totem

Item faction changes
Both factions changed as well. In the Merchant’s Guild, purchases are no longer locked behind rank, and the Bazaar gains price suggestions and automatic price lowering.
Meanwhile, in the Circle of Fortune, the prophecy system was redesigned so you can pick exact rewards. Consequently, farming specific items should feel far less frustrating.
