Rubberbanding in Aion 2 is when your character suddenly snaps back to a previous position after moving forward. You run toward an enemy, your character teleports backward 5 meters, and the enemy is now out of range. In aerial combat in the Abyss, rubberbanding can send you backward mid-flight and cost you the entire positional advantage you built.

What Causes Rubberbanding in Aion 2
Rubberbanding is a server reconciliation event. Here is the sequence:
- Your client moves your character forward (client-side prediction)
- Your movement packet is transmitted to NC’s server
- The packet is delayed, dropped, or arrives out of order
- The server does not see your movement in time
- The server sends back your last confirmed position
- Your client snaps your character back to that position
The longer the delay between your movement and the server’s confirmation, the further back the snap is. Severe rubberbanding produces the teleporting-backward effect. Mild rubberbanding produces a subtle hitching or stuttering in movement.

How to Diagnose Rubberbanding
Ping test:
ping -t [Aion 2 server IP]
Let it run for 2 minutes during a rubberbanding session. “Request timed out” entries = packet loss. Wildly varying response times (10ms, 200ms, 10ms) = jitter.
In-game test: Rubberbanding that only occurs in crowded areas (Abyss battles, world boss fights) is often server-side load. Rubberbanding that occurs even in empty zones is network routing.
Fixes for Aion 2 Rubberbanding
Switch to wired Ethernet: Wi-Fi packet loss is the most common cause of rubberbanding. A wired connection eliminates this immediately.
Fix ISP routing with ExitLag: When local fixes do not eliminate rubberbanding, the packet loss is occurring between your ISP and NC’s servers. Disable Nagle’s Algorithm: In the Windows Registry, disabling Nagle’s Algorithm prevents the OS from buffering movement packets, which creates the jitter that produces hitching and mild rubberbanding.
